The main activities of the Laboratory focus on research into the effects of ionizing radiations and other physicochemical factors on animal and human cells and tissues, in particular, the elucidation of the mechanism of DNA damage and repair, postradiation genome instability and ways of modulating these processes. The research activities also include the identification of biomarkers of radiation reactions of the organism.
Methods
Isolation of DNA and RNA from cells, tissues and biological fluids; PCR of long DNA fragments; quantitative real-time PCR; registration of gene expression; electrophoresis of nucleic acids; determination of DNA damage in cells by comet assay (single-cell gel electrophoresis); identification of DNA mutations and deletions, of DNA microsatellite polymorphism; analysis of the spatial structure and conformational features of intact and damaged DNA fragments.
